Winter Weather Preparedness – February 2, 2022

No Picture

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for much of Texas for late Wednesday through Friday. TCC is coordinating with state agencies in advance of the winter weather. We are participating in preparation calls with The Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) and the Texas Energy Reliability Council (TERC). We are actively monitoring the situation and coordinating with state operations services to respond to any industry and/or infrastructure support needs.

Some weather models forecast freezing temperatures extending to the Gulf Coast. As a precautionary measure, electric generators are recommending that their critical customers have back up power plans in place in the unlikely scenario that natural gas may be curtailed or the electric grid experiences widespread outages.

We ask that members stand ready to assist state agencies and local government should any need arise.

We will keep you apprised of any developments and thank you in advance for your willingness to provide assistance in your communities.

If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact TCC Director of Government Affairs Chris Noonan at Noonan@texaschemistry.org or (512) 646-6407.
