Winter Weather Event – Update from Harris County OEM

No Picture

Below is an update from the Harris County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.

The Harris County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management is activated to a Level III (increased readiness) and monitoring the winter weather conditions. At approximately 1300 hrs. the Operations Section spoke with TxDOT representatives who reported that road treatments are ongoing. Their primary focus is bridges (610, Fred Hartmann, etc.), overpasses, and flyovers. Due to precipitation, they reported that they may have to retreat certain areas. They also reported there will be continual monitoring of road conditions overnight and treatments will take place when needed.

At 1400 hrs., the National Weather Service (NWS) conducted a weather webinar for local Emergency Management officials. The weather forecast seems to be playing out as expected except for a slight shift for hard freeze warnings to the southeast. The following link is a slide presentation of the NWS 1400 hr. forecast: https://youtu.be/ycwHOQ0f3jk.

As of this time, the Operations Section has no Industry Briefings scheduled for this winter weather event. Any further updates will occur if needed.
