Dear EHCMA members:
Texas Governor Greg Abbott held a news conference on Friday, April 17 to announce several Executive Orders. One creates a Strike Force to Open Texas. While the Governor’s Executive Orders will add some additional exemptions, it did not change exemptions related to essential critical infrastructure. Thus, there is no significant impact to the petrochemical industry.
In addition to establishing the strike force and advisory panel of business people, he announced that he will open Texas State Parks on Monday, April 20 (still requires social distancing, groups of 5 or less and wearing face masks), issued an order to lift some surgery restrictions on April 22, and issued an order to allow retail business to operate as “Retail to Go” with pickup and delivery beginning April 24.
Governor Abbott also announced that schools will remain closed for the 2019-2020 school year. This includes public, private and higher education.
On April 27, Governor Abbott will have more announcements, and will consider lifting the March 31 stay-at-home-order. He also will share plans from the Strike Force.
