COVID-19 (coronavirus) Update
March 31, 2020
Governor Greg Abbott announced today an Executive Order that renews and amends his previous order to be effective starting at 12:01am on April 2, 2020 and ending on April 30, 2020. The Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) will maintain an online list of essential services specified in the Governor’s Executive Order at www.tdem.texas.gov/essentialservices/. The Chemical industry and associated industries are mostly included on the list. Other essential services may be added to this list with the approval of TDEM.

Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo announced today an extension of the Harris County Stay Home Work Safe order until 11:59pm on April 30, 2020. We have not seen a new order issued by Judge Hidalgo. Our understanding is that the prior order was extended with the same terms and conditions of the prior order.
We have posted several informative documents on the EHCMA website members only COVID-19 page: a copy of a Texas Chemical Council memo regarding travel between Louisiana and Texas, as well as a memo from Harris County OEM that reiterates its position that credentials are not needed to travel within Harris County. As information regarding the orders is updated, we will post that information on EHCMA’s website members only COVID-19 page.
Be safe & stay well,
Dennis Winkler
Interim Executive Director
