NWS Houston/Galveston will be promoting severe weather safety and preparedness during the week of March 6th to 10th, 2023. Each day will have a different theme. Information will be shared out on the web and social media. The NWS encourages you to share the information out on your social media accounts as well.

Daily topics during the week will be:

Tornado Drill

On Wednesday March 8th at 10 am a mock/test tornado warning will be sent out over NOAA Weather Radio and over Twitter. This warning can serve as the starting point for a drill in your school, home or business. You are encouraged to practice what you would do in the event of an actual warning. The warning will go out as a test, not using the actual tornado warning code.  If 10 am is not a convenient time, you can pick another time to practice.
