Maritime Domain CSC,

For your records this is the public posting from Port Houston issued on September 23rd regarding the successful defense of a cybersecurity attack. (see below)

Port-Houston-Statement-Cybersecurity-Attack-Thwarted-Sept-23-2021

**************************************************************

From my desk and viewpoint, Cyberactors are upping their game and while this particular documented incident was thwarted, we must continue to further strengthen our approach of treating risk and make certain we are providing resources for cybersecurity at our ports, offshore assets and our marine terminals.

Past DHS Deputy Under Secretary Mark Weatherford made a statement years before CISA was created and this statement still holds true to this very day and tomorrow “the bad guys have a lot more flexibility than we do, they don’t have rules, they don’t have laws, they have far more time, they use the same tools in many cases, and they only have to get lucky one time, we have to be good all the time”
