EHCMA’s core structure begins with our hardworking committee members who volunteer their time to support our organization’s initiatives in the areas of workforce development, legislation, the environment, safety, security and the community.
Making a Difference In order to better serve the needs of our members and community, the East Harris County Manufacturers Association has developed committees that focus on specific activities and critical issues for our industry and stakeholders.
Committees Best Practices: Charged with promoting safety, sustainability and excellence in the chemical and refining industries by identifying, developing and communicating to member companies best practices across all aspects of manufacturing, handling and distribution. The creation and sharing of best practices is the cornerstone of EHCMA’s mission. Topics including the digitalization of health, safety and environmental processes, human factors, new legislation and emergency response are ever evolving and require ongoing assessment and communication to the benefit of our members and the surrounding community. Committee Chair – Richard Bass –Kuraray America Channel Industries Mutual Aid (CIMA): A non-profit organization combining the fire-fighting, rescue, hazardous material handling and emergency medical capabilities of the refining and petrochemical industry in the Houston Ship Channel area. EHCMA Committee Rep – Joe Reynolds – CIMA, Operations Business Manager Emergency Management: Coordinates and collaborates emergency management ideas and processes with industrial members and responsible agencies for the overall wellbeing and safety of our communities. Committee Co-Chair – Jeff Suggs – Kuraray Environmental: Benchmarks successful environmental practices between member companies and addresses special projects as requested by EHCMA’s Board of Directors. Committee Chair – Christina Penrose – Lubrizol Outreach Networks: Committee Chair – Rod Herrick – Covestro Public Information and Policy: Creates and implements strategies increasing the awareness of EHCMA and the importance of industry; also offers reputation and crisis management guidance. Committee Chair – Sara Cronin – TPC Group Security: Benchmarks and communicates security best practices to members in association with local, state, and federal law enforcement. Serves as a rapid conduit of information between law enforcement and companies, aiming to reduce the likelihood of adverse effects on employees, community, and the environment due to criminal acts. Committee Co-Chair – Gary Scheibe – Pemex Deer Park Refinery Workforce Development: Focuses on building a skilled, inclusive, sustainable workforce for the petrochemical and energy industries in the Houston region.
