Galena Park – Jacinto City Community Industry Partnership ((GP-JC CIP)

 

History: Organized in 2011 in response to wishes of a plant, a member of another CAC, and participants in a Harris County environmental project

Number of community members: Approximately 15 + visitors

Meetings: Monthly except July and December. First Thursdays from 5:45- 7:30 pm by Zoom or at City of Galena Park Alvin Baggett Community Center. Meetings are open.

Goals: 

  • Provide a forum for face-to-face interaction between industry and community that helps each understand the other’s needs and concerns
  • Build relationships between community and industry with candid dialogue focused on information sharing and issue resolution
  • Assess industry performance and work with industry to bring about changes to improve the quality of life in the area the CIP serves.

Most common issues of interest: health, safety, environment, emergency management and communications, hazmat transportation, workforce development, Port of Houston dredging, benzene.
