National Hurricane Preparedness Week is this week, May 1st to May 7th. You’ll find plenty of materials, including social media plans (in English and Spanish) here:

https://www.noaa.gov/hurricane-prep

NWS Houston/Galveston will be sharing out posts over social media based on the topic of the day. Follow us on Twitter at @NWSHouston and on Facebook at NWSHouston.

Attention teachers: Note there is a webinar from the National Hurricane Center geared for grades 3 through 8 and ideal for classrooms and homeschool families. There is more information at link above and you can register at link below.

Also NWS Houston/Galveston has published a new 2022 Hurricane/Severe Weather Guide which can be found here:

https://www.weather.gov/hgx/HGX_Hurricane_Guide_2022

We’ll also have a PDF version of this guide available. We encourage you to share this link with your jurisdictions, workgroups, and include the link on your preparedness web pages.

Now is the time to get prepared!  NOAA seasonal forecast will be issued later this month but those forecasts that have been issued so far suggest another above average season overall.  Also in recent years storms developing prior to June 1st have been common.
