Industry partners,

As we are sure you are aware, we are reaching the peak of hurricane season and could be impacted by a storm as early as next week. The Operations Section of the Harris County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HCOHSEM) would like to refresh our industry partners on several communication tools available.

For our EHCMA partners, please remember the availability of the EHCMA Industry Status Board. For accountability purposes, it is important to update the personnel status at your site (fully staffed or ride-out crews). Also, please make sure that your contact information is updated and correct. The Operations Section of the HCOHSEM will also be updating the Message Board on the site with pertinent information including weather updates, road and service impacts, ship channel updates, evacuation orders (if applicable), etc.

The Operations Section of the HCOHSEM will also be conducting daily Industry Briefings (through a virtual platform) when the area has reached a Hurricane Warning level. These meetings will include weather briefings and updates from partners including the USCG, TxDOT, EHCMA, etc. These meetings have been very beneficial in improving communication and information sharing. The meetings have typically been held at 0900 hrs. each morning. Details containing call-in information will be posted on the EHCMA Industry Status Board and will be distributed through LEPCs, CIMA, Port Security District, and EHCMA membership distribution lists.

Also, please remember that the county is NOT requiring specialized credentials for ride-out teams nor at roadblocks when your employees are attempting to access your site. A site-specific credential with a photo should be adequate for any law enforcement at the roadblock.
