Statement on 2019 Industry Events

March 17, 2020

The East Harris County Manufacturers Association (EHCMA) members remain committed to learning from every incident and protecting the health and safety of the communities where we live and operate. Preventing incidents continues to be our members primary goal. Our members believe the best way to accomplish this is through enacting proactive safety measures, sharing safety best practices and learnings, as well as conducting comprehensive planning.

In the event of an incident, we strive to respond quickly, effectively and with care to prevent or mitigate any impacts to the community and environment. We are grateful that during the events that occurred last year the planned and practiced emergency response efforts put in place by EHCMA members helped to protect workers and the public.

There is no doubt that last year was particularly challenging for our industry and the safety of our operations. We are committed to doing better and working with our neighbors and local officials to address their concerns about the safety of our employees and communities.

The Houston Ship Channel has been the home of EHCMA members for over a century. We want to continue be an important part of the community and to deliver on our promise of making good – in the products we produce, the community outreach programs we provide, and in our commitment to health and safety.
